Friends Of Animals Special Alert for Montana Members!

Governor Brian Schweitzer’s amendments to House Bill 418, in which he proposed removing the alarming legal protections it would have offered the horse slaughterhouse industry in Montana, was rejected by the legislature on April 16th. See Today's News

Governor Schweitzer has only nine days left to veto the bill, or it will automatically become law.

The Environmental Protection Agency has expressed criticisms and concerns regarding the legal protections the unchanged bill would provide the horse slaughter industry in regards to potential interference with clean air and water laws.

There has also been criticism of the legal protections written into the bill which would infringe on the rights of citizens to challenge the operation of horse slaughter plants. It would be disastrous for horses if this bill were to become law.

Please contact Governor Brian Schweitzer as soon as possible, and urge him to VETO House Bill (HB) 418, which would give virtual impunity to horse slaughterhouse operators in Montana. Contact information below:

In my opinion most people in the world that profess to support the liberation of all animals and the end of the many completely unnecessary government authorized forms of torture and mass murder of precious creatures do not understand that the word liberation means complete freedom from every form of cruelty for all vulnerable animals as well as the assurance of a full and safe life. Those that truly care about animal liberation are not concerned about meaningless recognition, reward, or social prominence. Those who truly care about complete and total animal liberation are certain in their heart and mind that animals like humans were not put on earth to be tortured, murdered, eaten, hunted, or used for experimentation. When enough of the right people truly understand and realize how many catastrophic disasters are directly and indirectly related to animal cruelty then the bold liberation efforts by a few will finally be understood and appreciated by the masses. When this happens factory farms and slaughterhouses will close, which will mark the beginning of the end of all forms of cruelty to all animals. Jason and his staff personify a quality of real wisdom and real empathy that is unstoppable. Those that possess real wisdom and real empathy for all animal life possess everything. Whatever others profess to possess, without real wisdom and real empathy for all animals they have nothing.
